New cabin, additional functions and a fresh look for Schäffer telescopic wheel loaders

Erwitte, 10 November 2023 – Schäffer is showcasing the next generation of its telescopic wheel loaders, the 8620 T-3 and the 9640 T-3, at Agritechnica 2023. The new Comfort Cabin Plus now offers significantly increased driving comfort and an extended range of functions. A wealth of new assistance systems further enhances work efficiency, whilst work safety is boosted through monitored loading processes and an optimised all-round view.

The cabin of both telescopic wheel loaders has been re-designed. It is now more spacious than its predecessors thanks to an 8% increase in volume. At the heart of the new cabin is a 10-inch touchscreen, which makes loader operation more user-friendly than ever. Various machine functions can be intuitively set and monitored using this screen. An additional soft-touch control panel featuring large buttons ensures rapid access to the most frequently used functions, such as the working headlights. The height and tilt of the steering column can be adjusted by a foot pedal. All the pedals are suspended – providing a distinct advantage when controlling the loader and cleaning the cabin floor. An illuminated cabin access point, a larger door opening and additional handles make it easier to enter the loader.

Safety was a key focus when developing the new telescopic wheel loaders. The machines come equipped as standard with dynamic load moment control for continuously monitoring loading processes, significantly enhancing safety. The lighting system of the machines has also been improved. Both the working and driving headlights are equipped exclusively with energy-saving LEDs, which guarantee better illumination. The rear-view mirrors are split, which improves close-up visibility and further enhances safety. The larger window in the roof and the rear sloping bonnet also contribute to a better all-round view.

View of the cockpit: More space, an optimised all-round view and an intuitive touch screen characterise the new Comfort Cabin Plus.

Together with the new cabin, an array of innovative new functions has been added to the Schäffer telescopic wheel loaders that make daily work easier and more efficient. Various user profiles of the working hydraulics have been predefined for maximum efficiency of loading activities. For example, “fast mode” is suitable for the fast loading of straw bales or bulk materials, while “slow mode” is ideal for precise tasks such as moving pallets. The functions can be selected intuitively via the touchscreen, which is also used to select the new optional assistance systems. They include, for example, oil volume regulation for the auxiliary hydraulics and comfort operation for the telescopic arm with automatic shake function, tool positioning and tool emptying. The images provided by the optional reversing and front cameras are also shown on the large screen.

Both new telescopic wheel loaders boast significantly improved hydraulic performance due to a more efficient load-sensing system. The key performance indicators have not been changed compared to the predecessor models. The 102 or 129 hp 8620 T-3 can lift loads of up to 4.2 mt to a height of 5.20 m. The 2.77 m tall machine has – depending on its actual equipment – an operating weight of between 7 and 8 mt. The 9640 T-3 has an operating weight of between 8.4 and 9.7 mt and a 143 hp engine. The loader is 2.83 m tall and has a lifting capacity of 4.2 mt and a lifting height of 5.40 m.

Explaining the development process of the new machines, Schäffer Sales Manager Richard Bremenkamp says: “The new telescopic wheel loader generation is our direct response to the many customer suggestions we have received in recent years. We would like to express our gratitude for this support. All the loaders – whether compact agriculture loaders or the powerful telescopic wheel loaders – usually achieve more working hours per year than any farm tractor thanks to their flexible application options. And this is why safety, efficiency, ergonomics and comfort are so important in our eyes. The new telescopic wheel loaders set new standards in all these areas.”

Schäffer is showcasing its latest developments and numerous other machines at Agritechnica 2023 in Hall 6 at Stand B15.
