Following on from its success in 2013, Schäffer Maschinenfabrik has again been recognised by the three Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHKs) in South Westphalia, Germany, as a hidden champion, earning itself the prestigious title of “World Market Leader in Articulated Telescopic Wheel Loaders”.
The award ceremony took place at the headquarters of the South Westphalian Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Hagen. Friedhelm Brede, manager of operations, and Sebastian Bertelsmeier, marketing manager, accepted the certificate on behalf of the company. Schäffer, boasting a dedicated workforce of 475 employees, has built a reputation as an innovative, flexible and internationally active family business, renowned for its high-quality product range. “As a member of the ‘hidden champions’, we are committed to strengthening our position as the premier quality market leader for articulated telescopic wheel loaders,” explains Sebastian Bertelsmeier.

According to the “Lexikon der deutschen Weltmarktführer” (Lexicon of German World Market Leaders), companies ranked among the top three in their respective markets in terms of quantity or quality may class themselves as market leaders. To be categorised as a world or EU market leader from South Westphalia, you need to meet the following criteria:

Top performance in the telescopic wheel loader sector
The articulated telescopic wheel loader product segment comprises a total of 12 machines with operating weights ranging from 2.7 to 12 tonnes. Of particular note is the 9660 T-2, which is recognised as the world’s largest telescopic wheel loader. This powerful machine stands out from the crowd due to its impressive operating weight, engine output, lifting height, lifting capacity and hydraulic delivery rate. The advantages of the 9660 T-2 guarantee the highly efficient handling of materials and set new standards within the industry.
In 2022, Schäffer unveiled the 23e T, the world’s first all-electric telescopic wheel loader. This innovation underlines Schäffer’s market leadership and reflects the company’s dedication to ensuring sustainable technologies.
